Indian Navy Short Service Commission Merchant Navy Personnel

  • Candidates having Government of India, Ministry of Shipping & Transport Certificate of Competency (Foreign going) either as a Second Mate, Mate, or Master and born between 02 Jul 1993 to 01 Jan 2004 (both dates inclusive) can apply for Executive Branch entry (General Service) as per stipulations stated at Para (a).

 

  • Candidates having Government of India, Ministry of Shipping & Transport Certificate of Competency as 1st class Engineer of a steamship by the Govt and born between 02 Jul 1993 to 01 Jan 2004 (both dates inclusive) can apply for Technical Branch entry (SSC Engineering) as per stipulations stated at Para (g).
  • **Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Holders. Candidates having valid CPL issued by DGCA (India) and born between 02 Jul 1998 to 01 Jul 2004 (both dates inclusive) can apply for Pilot entry as per eligibility criteria stated at Para (d).

 

  • NCC Candidates. NCC ‘C’ certificate holders will be given a relaxation of 5% in cut off marks towards shortlisting for SSB subject to the meeting following criteria:-
    • Having NCC ‘C’ certificate of Naval/Army/Air Wing with minimum ‘B’ Grade.
    • Not served less than two academic years in the Senior Division, Naval/Army/Air Wing of the NCC.
    • ‘C’ certificate should not be dated prior to 01 Jun 2020.

Who Can Apply for Indian Navy Short Service Commission

Candidates who have graduated/ post graduated or are in the final year with minimum 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA from any Recognized Indian University.

Candidates who have obtained a degree in Engineering with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA/System from such foreign university/ college/ institution should be recognized by the Government of India.

Medical standards/ Relaxation in Height and Weight/ Tattoo.

Candidates have to visit the Official website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in for information. The SSB recommended candidates are required to undergo a medical examination as applicable to their entry.

Candidates selected for the Indian Navy SSC Recruitment 2022 are commissioned Initially for 10 years extendable by a maximum of 04 years in 02 terms (02 years + 02 years), subject to service requirements, performance, medical eligibility, and willingness of candidates.

Selection Procedure Indian Navy Short Service

Commission

  • Indian Navy SSC Recruitment 2022 candidate Shortlisting of applications will be based on normalized marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree. Marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree will be normalized using formulae mentioned in the Join Indian Navy website (URL: https://www.joinindiannavy.gov.in/files/normalisation.pdf)
    • BE/B Tech. For candidates who have completed or are in the final year of BE/B Tech, marks obtained up to the 5th semester will be considered for SSB shortlisting.
    • Post-Graduate Degree Programme. For candidates who have completed MSc, MCA, MBA, and M Tech mark obtained in all semesters will be considered. For candidates who are in their final year, shortlisting will be based on pre-final year performance.
    • Candidates selected in the final merit list will be required to submit proof of completing the qualifying degree with a minimum of 60% marks by sending an email to the address officer@navy.gov.in. Candidates failing to meet the criteria will not be permitted to join the Academy.
    • No communication will be entertained in this regard.
    • Shortlisted candidates will be informed about their selection for the SSB interview through e-mail or SMS (provided by candidates in their application form). Candidates are advised not to change their e-mail/ mobile number till the selection process is over.
    • Change of SSB Centre for the interview is not permissible under any circumstances.
    • Any correspondence regarding the change of SSB dates is addressed to the call-up officer of the concerned SSB on receipt of the call-up letter. Candidates have to check, save and print the call-up letter upon receiving intimation from IHQ MoD (N) by SMS/email (provided by candidates in their application).
  • No compensation is admissible in case of any injury sustained as a result of tests during SSB interviews
  • AC 3 tier rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview if appearing for the first time for a particular type of commission. Candidates are required to bring a photocopy of the first page of pass book or cheque leaf where the name, A/C No. & IFSC details are mentioned while appearing for SSB.

Indian Navy Short Service Commission Recruitment 2022 Merit List

A combined Merit list would be prepared based on SSB marks for all entries as per the availability of vacancies for respective entries. Candidates declared fit in the medical examination would be appointed as per the availability of vacancies in the entry.

Indian Navy SSC Recruitment 2022 Probation Period

The probation period for officers of all branches/cadres is TWO Years. The probation period will commence from the date of grant of the rank of Sub Lt and will terminate after two years for all entries or on completion of initial training (whichever is later). During probation, the officers are liable to be discharged in case of unsatisfactory performance at any stage.

Before start filling the online e-application, candidates have to keep the relevant Applicable documents readily available to enable the correct filling up of personal particulars.

Ensure that all the details are to be filled up as given in the Matriculation Certificate. Fields such as e-mail address, and mobile number are mandatory fields and need to be filled in without fail.

  1. All relevant documents (preferably in original)
  2. Marks sheets up to 5th & 7th semester for regular and integrated BE/ B.Tech courses respectively
  3. All semesters for other degree examinations
  4. Date of birth proof (as per 10th & 12th certificate)
  5. CGPA conversion formula for BE/ B.Tech
  6. Merchant Navy certificate issued by the Government of India
  7. Ministry of Shipping& Transport Certificate
  8. NCC ‘C’ certificate issued by National Cadet Corps
  9. A recent passport size color photograph should be scanned in original JPG/TIFF format for attaching the same while filling up the application.

Candidates should be cautioned by the Indian Navy that If any scanned document is not legible/readable for any reason, the application will be rejected. The application once submitted will be final and no request for amendments/change will be entertained.

Candidates are to take a printout of the application and carry it while appearing for the SSB interview.
