AU Open Degree Admissions
Andhra University is one of the oldest educational institutions in India. It is the first institution to be conceived as a residential and teaching-cum-affiliating University. This university is mainly devoted to Post-Graduate Training and Research.
Constituted by the Madras Act of 1926 in the year 1926 at Visakhapatnam. It has grown under the visionary leadership of the founder Vice-Chancellor, Sir. C.R.Reddy. Under the direction and supervision of succeeding vice-chancellors, the university is adding a number of new courses that are relevant and important today to keep up with the requirements and challenges of the world.
The university currently offers 313 courses in the following disciplines: education, law, pharmacy, science and technology, management, business, and arts. Four AU Campuses and five constituent colleges make up the University. With 26 Departments and 42 courses, including four diploma programs, the Colleges of Arts and Commerce is the university’s largest member college.
The College of Science and Technology provides 63 courses across its 21 Departments, one of which is a postgraduate diploma. The College of Engineering has 15 Departments offering Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Research Programmes. The UGC has designated the College of Law as a cutting-edge Center in Law. The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences is the first institution of its sort in South India, offering Ph.D. programs, in addition to one UG Programme and six PG programs.
School of Distance Education
One of the original organizations in the sphere of higher education was the School of Distance Education, a division of this university that was founded in 1972. It has been working to increase access to higher education for various societal groups dispersed across various geographic locations, particularly in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
The curriculum and rules for students at this institution are the same as those for normal Andhra University students. The Degree awarded is also the same. The learning package consists of audio-visual packages, face-to-face interaction, and self-paced study materials.
There are currently 34 study centres available to accommodate learners’ needs. The Study Centers’ primary activities include selling applications, disseminating information, engaging in face-to-face engagement, conducting exams, etc.
